Merlin has collaborated with Scottish mill Halley Stevensons, known to produce the silk wax cotton fabric used in Merlin garments as well as Belstaff and Barbour, to create a unique range within the Merlin Heritage range. This new Cotec fabric has a soft, slightly oily/moist feel with a modern matte look. The fabric maintains a clean, uniform appearance. This unique fabric is a modern interpretation of the traditional silk wax, with better breathability, easier use over the long term, and critically better safety performance. Considering all of this, it is even more amazing that the fabric has a finished weight of 8 oz, as opposed to the traditional silk wax which has a finished weight of 12 oz.
These new Cotec garments also come with the newly licensed for Merlin D30 protectors that are pre-mounted on the shoulders and elbows. Merlin has chosen the latest LP1 D30 fitment, which features a highly ventilated construction, safety level 1 including optional high and low temperature testing, and the signature D30 flexibility that hardens on impact.
